Around 1830 hours, Engine 29 was dispatched to a boater in distress at Lone Star Lakes. It was verified that the subjects were taking on water in the Butler Lake on the North end of the park. Engine 29 (Lt. Brock) with 3, Brush 9 (Lt. Saunders) with 1 and Car 109 (Chief Dortch) responded to the incident.
Car 109 contacted Battalion 2 via cell to have one of their boats respond. Suffolk Fire-Rescue Engine 25’s crew responded with Zodiac 5. Station 9 units arrived on scene, established command and located the victims approx. 1000 yards away. Command asked for Medic 9 to respond for standby.
Another family in the lake returned to the dock to see what the emergency crews were doing. We advised them of the situation, the boat owner and Lt. Brock & Saunders boarded the vessel and made their way to the victims. They reported back that both victims and inflatable boat had been located and were accounted for. They brought the victims to shore, where they were assessed by M9’s crew. Both occupants denied transport and were released on scene.
Units cleared and returned to quarters.
